NightCrawl

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 4, 2026 · Last updated: September 4, 2026

NightCrawl ("the app") is a police/fire scanner and severe-weather livestream aggregator operated by SDO Sports and Tech LLC ("we", "us"). This policy describes exactly what the app handles, why, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

The short version. NightCrawl has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking. We do not collect your name, your location, or your email (unless you type one into a feedback form). Everything we store on our servers is tied to a random ID generated on your device, and you can erase all of it from inside the app.

What We Collect

WhatWhyKept for
Anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on first launch To attribute your streamer ratings, remember which streamers you have opened so recommendations work, and route push notifications Until you delete your data or uninstall
Viewing activity — which streamers you opened, and when Powers the "Discover" recommendations Up to 12 months, then automatically deleted
Streamer ratings — the 1–5 scores you submit To compute the average rating shown on each streamer, and to stop one device rating the same streamer twice Retained while the streamer exists (they form the public average), or until you delete your data
Push notification token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token, plus which streamers you subscribed to Only to deliver the alerts you asked for Until you disable notifications, delete your data, or uninstall
Feedback you send — your message, the app version, your device model, and your email only if you choose to enter one To reproduce bugs and reply to you Up to 24 months

What We Do Not Collect

Stored Only on Your Device

Your favorites, watch history, region preferences, theme choice, selected category tab and notification settings are kept in local storage on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes them.

Deleting Your Data

Open Profile → Settings → Privacy → Delete My Data. That permanently erases from our servers every record tied to your device — your ratings, your viewing history, your push token and your notification subscriptions — and clears everything stored locally on the device. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. No account is left behind, because there was never an account.

You can also email support@nightcrawl.app. Be aware that because the identifier is anonymous we generally cannot link an email address to a device, so the in-app control is the reliable route.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live — for example the EEA or UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA — you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to the processing of your personal information. Because NightCrawl holds no identifying information (no name, no account, and no email unless you volunteered one in feedback), the practical route for all of these is the in-app Delete My Data control above. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. For anything else, contact support@nightcrawl.app.

Third-Party Sources and Services

Security

Traffic between the app and our API is encrypted with HTTPS. Server credentials are held outside the public web root with restricted file permissions. No system is perfectly secure, but the amount of personal information at risk here is deliberately minimal — there is no account database to breach.

Children's Privacy

NightCrawl is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app surfaces real police, fire and severe-weather incident content that may be unsuitable for children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

Our servers are in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, the limited data described above is processed in the US.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
